Build a clinical service from day one
Job description
Head of Clinical Services – Affidea Wimbledon
Wimbledon Quarter, Southwest London Permanent, full time (37.5 hours) Competitive, depending on experience
Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer.
Build a clinical service from day one
Affidea UK is in a period of exceptional growth. Since Fortius Clinic, the UK’s largest orthopaedic group, joined Affidea in 2021, we have gone
from strength to strength. In July 2026 we announced a strategic partnership with LIPS Healthcare, the UK’s largest private consultant-led
multi-specialty group, and in October we agreed to acquire two specialist diagnostic centres from Alliance Medical, on Harley Street and in
Marylebone. This autumn, we will open our first ambulatory clinic in Southwest London, a major milestone in our mission to bring world-class, accessible healthcare to communities across the UK. Joining us now means being part of this journey from the ground up, with real
opportunities to grow as we do.
Our 33,000 sq ft clinic in the Wimbledon Quarter Shopping Centre brings advanced diagnostics, outpatient services and theatres under one roof. It includes a Private GP, an Express Care minor injuries unit, consultant and treatment rooms, advanced diagnostic imaging (3T MRI, 1.5T MRI,
CT, X-Ray and DEXA), surgical theatres and inpatient ward facilities.
About the role
As Head of Clinical Services, you’ll be the senior clinical leader for the site. You’ll lead every nursing and clinical support department: theatre,
recovery, endoscopy, Express Care, treatment rooms, health assessments and practice nursing for our Private GP service. You’ll sit on our Medical Advisory Committee and have a real say in how clinical care is run.
This is a rare chance to build a clinical service from the start. You’ll take the clinic through Care Quality Commission registration and opening,
setting the standards and culture your service will be known for.
What you’ll be responsible for
Clinical leadership
· Leading all nursing and clinical support departments, and being a visible senior clinical presence on site
· Acting as professional lead for all nurses, including NMC revalidation, appraisal, competencies and mandatory training
· Managing rostering, safe staffing, skill mix and the use of agency staff
Patient safety and named lead roles
· Acting as named lead for infection prevention and control, safeguarding adults and children, resuscitation and the deteriorating patient
· Acting as the Responsible Person on our Home Office controlled drugs licence, and leading controlled drugs governance with pharmacy
Quality and governance
· Running the site clinical audit programme (hand hygiene, controlled drugs, surgical safety checklist, documentation and infection control) and making sure actions are completed
· Leading on incidents, complaints, duty of candour and patient safety alerts across the clinical departments
· Owning clinical policies and procedures, including Express Care triage and children’s competencies
Regulation
· Leading the site through CQC registration and opening, and holding the clinical evidence for inspection
